Award-winning Malayalam writer Punathil Kunjabdulla dies aged 75. A doctor by profession and writer by choice Punathil won the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel SMARAKASI;AKAL (1980) and the Kerala Sahithya Akademi award twice for the same novel (1978) and MALAMUKALILE ABDULLA (1980).
He is considered as one of the representative figures of modernism in Malayalam literature. He had written 7 novellets and 15 short story collection. His other major works include MARUNNU, KANYAVANANGAL, KATHI and ALIGARH KATHAKAL. He was suffering from age-related illnesses for long and breathed his last at a private hospital.
