Dr. George Rubin Thomas, mathematician and chairman of Ecorun Society, was the first to run the length of Kerala. He ran it in 2008 at age 62, and repeated at 72. Against Din and Danger is an inspiring account of those runs which laced through major towns. The first run covered more than Kerala; it was a distance of 1030 kms from Kanyakumari to Kolloor. Yes, determination and discipline can often achieve things practically beyond one’s capability.
The aim of the first run was to create awareness against slow burning of plastic waste. The second run raised funds for the flood relief of 2018. A journal of the runs, it is an account of the places he saw and the people he met. The work informs that our land is at present not God’s Own Country and teaches how it can become that country.
