“My years at the Indian Railways shaped me as a writer,” said TD Ramakrishnan, at the World Book Day edition of Kerala Literature Festival. Talking about the life in Indian Railways, he said it is as intricate as enormity with which it is pictured as. The lives of people directly dependant on the Railways is something that needs to be documented and that is the theme of his upcoming novel. Speaking at large about the life and the struggles he faced, he also went on to speak about the railway protests during the 1974 and the brutal suppression by the government then. The many jobs and lives that went out of place and the many complicated facets of life involved in a system that functions throughout the year were also discussed.
