SPACES fest shines is spotlight on variety of ethnic art forms through a range of sessions. For an art form like Theyyam, there is an umbilical link between the art and the space it is performed in. But when the space it is performed in is under decline, there needs to be discussions and ways to revive the art form. In addition to the sessions at SPACES Fest highlighting different topics about performing arts, there will be cultural events on all three days starting on 29th August 2019.
The cultural nights will begin with the play Mahasagaram, by Prasanth Narayanan of Kalam Theatre and Repertory. The play is dedicated to M.T. Vasudevan Nair including the life and work of the literateur.
The cultural night on 30th of August will feature a unique show by the pioneers of Tholpavakoothu, Kalasree Ramachandra Pulavar and team. In this clever play of light against the inanimate figures made of leather, the spectators will witness an epic created out of shadows.
The rock band Thakara known for their songs rising against the ills of the space we live in, will perform at the fest on 31st of August. A film festival curated by the veteran film maker Shaji.N.Karun, will be an added highlight of the night.
The final day of the event will witness a musical evening led by the Carnatic vocalist T.M. Krishna.
With the cultural nights in place, SPACES Fest, is on par with its aim to converge culture and politics into the realms of design in which we are placed.
Celebrate spaces through these cultural nights at SPACES Fest, a four day event beginning on August 29, 2019 at Kanakaunnu Palace Thiruvananthapuram.
