Kerala Literature Festival providing space for discourses on contemporary literary cultural artistic movements and issues will prove out to be intellectual expansion and cultural change with heated debates and discussions. The literature festival in the auspices of DC Kizhakemuri foundation will be held in Kozhikode beach from 10th January to 13th January 2019. Internationally acclaimed writers, thinkers, artists, musicians, dancers, statesman will add the vigour and wit of the festival.
Vivid topics and discussions will be covered in four days across four venues. Lecture series on the prominent icons who endured in the making of modern India will be an epitome of significance and cultural discourse. The significance of Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation, in the Indian Independence freedom struggle will be addressed by Dr. Ramachandra Guha, prominent historian and theoretician. Guha’s books include The Unquiet Woods, A Corner of a foreign field, India after Gandhi as well as his recent book, Gandhi before India. The columnist for The Telegraph and Hindustan Times and writer for The Caravan and Outlook magazine, Guha, has taught in universities of Yale and Stanford, held the Arne Naess Chair at the University of Oslo, and been the Indo-American Community Visiting Professor at the University of California at Berkeley
Influence of Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India will be addressed by writer and politician Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament. The former international civil servant has written non-fiction books including The Paradoxical Prime Minister, Reasons of State, India from Midnight to Millenium, Kerala, God’s own country, Nehru: The Invention of India, Bookless in Bagdad, The Elephant, The Tiger and The Cellphone, India: The future is now.
Dr.B R .Amedkar, his vision of India and significant changes he brought out will be addressed by famous Dalit thinker and human rights activist Dr.Anand Teltumbdegeneral secretary of the committee for protection of democratic rights (CPDR). Between Jagatikikaran Ani Dalit-Shoshit(Globalization And The Dalits), his first book in Marathi written in 1994, and the Republic Of Caste, in 2018, Teltumbde has written 20 other volumes, 11 monographs, and more than 500 articles. Almost all his books have been translated into five-seven Indian languages. Currently, he teaches Big Data analytics at the Goa Institute of Management.
