It is translations that bridge the gap in our connection with world literature. We are familiar with the culture, the people and primarily understand that human emotions are the same irrespective of race and culture. India with its diverse languages and culture is a treasure trove with texts in the literature which we are yet to discover.
Abhay. K, an Indian poet-diplomat and the author of two memoirs and five collections of poems, has performed a daunting task of bringing together the best of Indian poetry. India’s rich and unidentified tradition of poetry spanning over 3000 years, is lit up through this collection of poems. It showcases the culture and would appeal to anyone interested in India.
The compilation gives a flavour of India and a voice for the minority. Abhay K, who is the winner of the SAARC Literary Award 2013 believes that translation and transcreation are necessary to make these pieces of laurels from the past available to the current generation.
