The name Tamana means a bird and desire. When we learn Tamana’s story, we identify her as both. She is a Phoenix bird who rose from the ashes to fulfill her dreams. As a girl born with cerebral palsy and spascity, she spoke her first words and took her first steps at the age of nine. With a positive attitude towards her disability, Tamana has overcome her limitations to achieve her dreams.
She now runs an NGO and a school for special children. She is a nursery teacher and a marathoner as well. Surrounded by immense love and support of a wonderful family and a valiant mother by her side, she raced against the barriers. This memoir, co- authored by Aditi Mehrotra is an inspiring story of a girl who converted disability into abilities.
I am Tamana narrates the story of how they built a world of inclusiveness and how they battled the indifferences together through determination and hard work. An account that would restore our belief in the power of love.
