United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes ( UNDOC) marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It helps in strengthening action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
The theme for this year is Health for Justice. Justice for Health. It emphasises that justice and health are “two sides of the same coin” when it comes to addressing the problems associated with drugs. According to the United Nations, in order to create effective responses to tackle the problem of drugs, accountable institutions of criminal justice, health, and social services should work together to provide integrated solutions.
This day attains meaning with the co-operation from different organisations that work for a society that is aware of the major problem that illicit drugs represent.
