For the indelible thoughts books leave us with, DC Books celebrates this year’s World Book Day with indelible art. Taking into account the influential role books hold in one’s life, World Book Day is celebrated in order to laud the books and authors who gifted us words that speak to us. Falling on the Birthdays of writers like William Shakespeare, the UNESCO decided to observe April 23 as World Book and Copyright Day at a General Conference, held in Paris in 1995. The World Book Day celebrations this year by DC Books uses the possibilities of graffiti art.
An initiative that would happen simultaneously at two venues on April 22nd features prominent graffiti artists. One’s favourite titles can never lose its charm the umpteen times one reads it. You discover a new dimension each time you read the book and a glee each time you see it. The art would feature the titles curated by the readers taking the shape of a bookshelf which could promote the idea of physical libraries that are fast disappearing from our homes and also introduce books that one is unaware of.
The event will commence from 11 am on April 22nd at the DC retail stores at Trivandrum near Biblio Statue and near M.D Commercial Centre, Kottayam.
