Kerala Literature Festival, a hybrid of art, culture and literature with luminary artists, poets, musicians, writers, dancers, statesman, scientists including Ramchandra Guha, Arundhati Roy, Harsh Mander, Swami Agnivesh, Shashi Tharoor, Richard Stallman, Jeet Tayil, P. Sainath, Miki Desai, Anita Nair, Devdutt Patnaik, Rakesh Sharma, Amish Tripathi, Ravinder Singh will create a new dimension to the milieu. From 10th January to 13th January Kozhikode beach will witness intellectual discussions and artistic propulsions. Dr. L.Subramaniam, Indian icon of the violin will mesmerise the audience with the fine tune and magnetism of a western star on 12th January from 8 pm to 10 pm in Kozhikode Beach.
Attributed to be the Violin Chakravarthy from a very young age, L Subramaniam, a medical doctor by profession has produced two hundred recordings. He has proved his versatility with his explorations in South Indian Classical music, Western Classical Music both Orchestral and non-Orchestral, scoring for films by working with great musicians from different genres of music including jazz, occidental, jugalbandhis with North Indian musicians, world music and global fusion. His latest orchestral composition, titled “Astral Symphony”, emphasises the concept of global fusion. Moreover, his album titled “Global fusion ” featured artists from five continents and proved to be a remarkable milestone. He has also composed music for a few films, including “Salaam Bombay” and “Mississippi Masala” and was the featured soloist for Bernardo Bertolucci’s “Little Buddha” and “Cotton Mary” of Merchant – Ivory Productions.
With a stable foundation in Karnatic music, traditionally acquired, he completed Masters Degree in Western Classical Music in California. He is also the founder/director of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, the biggest global music festival in India as well as the founder of the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SAPA), a global institute in Bangalore that imparts a high level of music education to students from all over the world. He was awarded the most coveted Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for “The most creative artist” from the President of India.
