The inaccessibility of exotic fruits and vegetables in our diet hasn’t made us unhealthy, pointed out the food vlogger Mrinal Das. He was speaking at the World Book Day edition of Kerala Literature Festival. Sharing his thoughts on the changes in the eating habits that lockdown has brought forth, he said that it has brought us closer to the native species of fruits and vegetables and the local cuisine.
The moisture-laden jackfruit, breadfruit, native breed of mangoes and drumsticks are all the summer friendly vegetables our surroundings provide which were casually wasted until recently as we were busy embracing an exotic palate of tastes. Mrinal doesn’t recommend a radical change, instead urges one to endorse a locavore kind of lifestyle, which is also a part of a healthy, sustainable living and eating.
