Malayalam poet V. Madhusoodanan Nair and Shashi Tharoor won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award, one of the highest literary award in the country. Madhusoodanan Nair won the award for Achan Piranna Veedu in the Malayalam poetry category. Tharoor won the award for An Era of Darkness: British Empire in India in the creative non-fiction category in English literature.
As many as 23 works have been chosen for this edition of the award which includes a mix of poetry, essays, novels short stories and two works of nonfiction. The award comes with an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and a cheque for Rs 1 lakh. The awards will be presented at a function on February 25,2020 in New Delhi.
