Revisiting Malabar Rebellion 1921 is a nuanced representation of a historical event boldly following its trajectory from its prehistory, the events that influenced the outbreak, the ideologies that triggered the movement, the vast timeline and the men who spearheaded the rebellion. Celebrating the centenary of the rebellion, DC Books has published the second edition of this English translation of Malabar Kalapam Oru Punarvayana.
From broadly narrating the lives of Variamkunnath Kunhahammed Haji, a nationalist soldier and Ali Musaliyar, the radical scholar, to exploring the political space the rebellion opened up, it revisits the most fierce battle after the revolt of 1857, which was the result of longing for a revolution that prompted them for a rebellion.
