Prof M P Paul and the Catholic Community, English translation of Joseph Pulikunnel’s Malayalam original to be released today.
The English work titled Prof M.P Paul and the Catholic Community translated from the Malayalam original by Dr. Amel Antony, will be released on Saturday, Jan 02 at a small event at Puthenpally, Varapuzha.
MP Paul, an ardent educationist, scholar and literary critic of Malayalam was one of the major binding forces behind the Purogamana Sahitya Prasthanam. He started the first parallel college called MP Paul tutorial college in Kerala, initiating a parallel stream of education. He introduced western literature to Malayalam and was the first critic to introduce comparative literature.
His life and constant struggles with the catholic community were observed and documented into a paper in Malayalam, by Late Mr. Joseph Pulikunnel who himself championed against the unethical policies of the church and spearheaded several humanitarian policies including the Malayalam translation of the Holy Bible.
