The eleven day bibliophilic and cultural expo will be carrying the World Book Capital 2019 theme ‘Open Books. Open Minds.’ Mexico will be celebrated as the Guest of Honour country for the event and Steve Harvey will be the chief guest of honour. Turkish novelist and Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk, and Indian poet and Academy award – winning lyricist and script writer Gulzar, Mark Manson, Vikram Seth, Anita Nair, Steven James, Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, and Elisabetta Dami are a few among the long list of writers and celebrities to be featured in this year’s book fair.
SIBF, which is the world’s third largest book fair, will host two-thousand publishers from eighty one countries and numerous debutants from the publishing industry. Aimed at creating an ecosystem that caters to the interest of young and old alike, the event will have theatrical performances, comic book corners which will host performances and movie screening. The social media station at the fair will feature workshops and discussions led by social media influencers. A Diversity Hub and a Design Thinking Platform are the newest features on the offer which will serve as a space to drive discussions on diversity and culture, formulate creative ideas.
The literature and cultural extravaganza will come to an end on November 9, 2019.
