The inaugural day of the Lulu- Dc Books reading festival witnessed a session featuring the radio jockey, author and motivational speaker Joseph Annamkutty Jose marking the international inauguration of his show Standup With Joseph Annamkutty Jose.
Even as we gorge on umpteen number of stand up shows on platforms like Netfilx and Amazon, the genre isn’t new to Kerala. ‘We claim the legacy of none other than Kunchan Nambiar and when I attempt something like this it is old wine in a brand new bottle matching the trends of the ‘new- generation,’ said Joseph at the event. Still in infancy in the state, Joseph narrated the events that led to designing such an event followed by a hilarious account of the reactions he received after announcing the show.
Joseph equated his entry to the comedy circuit to breaking away from his image as a motivational speaker. Being valentine’s day, he spoke at length about love and marriage drawing witty instances from his own life driving repeated bouts of laughter and applause.
The event also witnessed the book launch of Kanamethumillathe by Dr. Baby Sam Samuel. The reading festival will celebrate two decades of the famous poem Kannada by Murugan Kattakada with a poetry session by the poet himself on the 28th of February 2020 at 7pm, the final day of the event.
