Stephen King’s The Boogeyman is being made into a movie. It will be turned into a feature length horror movie for which 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps are finalizing a deal. The movie will be written by the screenwriter duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
The Boogeyman is a short story which was first published in 1973; later in 1978 as part of King’s horror collection Night Shift. The story revolves around a father who thinks that his children’s recent deaths were because of a mysterious creature which is hiding in their closets. The chilling narrative plays with every parent’s worst fear of their inability to protect their children.
According to Deadline, The Boogeyman is a “favorite of short filmmakers” and has been adapted on seven different occasions but none of those were commercial productions. And so, Fox and 21 Laps’ deal will be the first feature adaptation of the story.
Meanwhile, there is no official word about when the production of The Boogeyman will begin or on its release date.
