At the 65th National Film Awards declared Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum selected as best Malayalam Film, Spectacular performances, and screenplay, said Shekhar Kapur on the film. Best film in Hindi was bagged by Newton -The film that became India’s official entry to Oscars 2018. Pankaj Tripathi gets special mention for his performance in Newton.
A.R. Rahman bagged two awards—Best Background Score for Mom, and Best Music Direction for Kaatru Veliyidai.
The awards were decided by a jury headed by renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. The 10-member-panel comprises screenwriter Imtiaz Hussain, lyricist Mehboob, actress Gautami Tadimalla and Kannada director P. Sheshadri among others.
“I didn’t know such great films were being made in regional cinema,” said Shekhar Kapur as he announced the awards. Hindi cinema cannot compete with them, he said. Announcing special mention awards, he said, “special mention award for Malayalam film Take Off and performance by actress Parvathy.”
Best Marathi film: Kaccha Limbu
Best Malayalam film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
Best Hindi film: Newton.
Sridevi gets the Best Actor (Female) award for the movie MOM.Divya Dutta has been awarded the Best Supporting Actor (Female) award for the movie Irada.
Actor Fahad Fazil gets the Best Supporting Actor award for the movie Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
The award goes to Shashaa Tirupati for her song “Vaan” in the movie Kaatru Veliyidai.
J M Prahalad gets an award for Best Lyrics for the song Muthuratna. he best director award goes to Nagraj Manjule
Malayalam film Bhayanakam has also been given the award for Best Cinematography.
The Best Adapted Screenplay has been given to Malayalam film Bhayanakam.
The award for the Best Original Screenplay goes to Malayalam film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
The award for the Best Audiography has been given to the Assamese film Village Rockstars.
The award goes to Ladakhi film Walking with the Wind.
The award for the Best Production Design has been given to Malayalam film Take Off.
The award has been given to Bengali film Nagar Kirtan.
A R Rahman gets the Best Background Score award for MOM.
Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai receives the award for Best Music Direction. Noted music composer A.R. Rahman has composed the music for the movie.
Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion has been given the award for Best Special Effects.
The award for the best choreography goes to Ganesh Acharya for Toilet Ek Prem Katha’s song “Gori Tu Latth Maar”
S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion has been given the award for Best Action Direction.
GHH is the Best Gujarati Film.
The Best Tamil Film award goes to To-Let.
The award goes to Ishu.
The Ghazi Attack starring Rana Daggubati gets the Best Telugu film award.
Best Bengali Film award goes to Mayurakshi.
Amit V Masurkar directorial Newton starring Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi gets the Best Hindi Film award.
Marathi film – Morkiya, Oriya film – Hella Aarsi and Malayalam film- Take Off got the Special Mention Awards. Commenting on Hello Aarsi, Shekhar Kapur said, “If I try to make that film I will fail.” Pankaj Tripathi got a special mention for his performance in Newton.
The Best Animation Film award has been given to The Fish Curry and Tokri: The Basket.
Late actor Vinod Khanna has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Marathi film Dhappa wins the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration
